 As time progresses, Southern Valley Services has continued to add more services to our offerings.  Below is a description of each service we offer.

Energy Code Compliance
 The Residential Energy Codes have been enacted by the State of Alabama.  These codes mandate that new homes follow certain guidelines to improve on energy efficiency and comfort.  In most of the State, local municipalities have not yet enacted local enforcement of the Code; or have only enacted partial enforcement.  However, it is still a State mandated code.  This means a home buyer should have reasonable expectations that a new home should at least meet the compliance requirements.  Our task is to perform inspections and diagnostics to certify the home is in compliance.  Local contractors hire us to make sure their homes are efficient and comfortable; and owners building a custom home hire us to make sure their new home is within the State code and as energy efficient as possible.

Duct Testing
One of the diagnostic tests we perform is the duct test.  This is also a test used to determine what level of leakage a duct system may have.  Not only in the codes compliance process, but often home owners have this test done before replacing an HVAC system, or when they suspect poor performance by their ductwork.

Home Energy Audits
This is a general audit of a home to determine if issues with comfort and energy costs can be resolved with energy improvements.  Attics and crawlspaces are inspected, as well as potential problems in walls.  To find these issues, an infrared camera is used with a Blower door to find air infiltration.  Duct testing is available as an added option to find duct leakage and HVAC performance issues.  The audit is accompanied by a recommendation list of improvements to the home that can remedy the issues found.

Energy Improvements
After a home audit, we can provide you with references of qualified contractors who perform these improvements in your area.  We never refer a contractor who is not fully licensed and insured; and the contractor will expect Southern Valley Services to return to the completed job and inspect the work to insure the maximum impact.

Home Inspections
We have a licensed home inspector on staff who can perform full real estate inspections of a home either for purchasing or in preparation to list your home for sale.

RADON testing
Everyone in North Alabama should have their home tested for RADON.  This is the second greatest cause of cancer after smoking.  We can perform testing for homeowners as well as Real Estate testing prior to purchasing a home.
